I am using a GM alternator on my '59 Dodge. If you wish to make the conversion, this should work. The GM part should mount pretty easily... BUT you will probably have to get a machine shop to fabricate a bracket or two. Granted, it's often difficult to justify such an update. In the long run, however, I felt the alternator would be a more reliable choice. Good luck.
