Mike: Please clarify what you mean by "sounds like a deisel". Do you mean it sounds like it has a bad case of pre-detonation? If so this is not normal and a very bad thing. You do not say what kind of lifters you are using, or if they are new or used. The rocker arm assemblies used in the hemis are inherently noisier than other engine designs. This includes the new 5.7 liter hemi. However, the additional noise should not be objectionable with hydraulic lifters, and only marginally worse than other engine designs with solids. What kind of noise are you hearing?
