Having built engines professionally and otherwise, the life of an engine is dependant on several things. The level of craftsmanship that went into the machining and assembly, the quality of the parts used, the level of care exercised by the consumer in faithful maintenace, and the use/abuse of the vehicle it's installed in. When you pull the pump, carefully examine the screen for any foreign substances especially RTV - you'd be surprised. Some people subscribe to the theory that if a little bit is good, a whole lot is better. Herman
