1404 is the 500 cfm eldenbrock on my truck (man choke) 1406 is the 600cfm I use on my car (auto choke)... these carbs should be between $200 to $250, depending were you buy them. Your carter should be able to be rebuilt for less than half the cost of one of these carbs, but if the shaft is worn a rebuild may not help. If the intake is the cast iron one, you may have to run a spacer under the carb to let the butterflys move without hitting the sides of the intake, or grind the intake on the outside edge of the intake holes to allow for more room if it was board for a WCFB carb instead of a AFB.
