57-61 crank has longer flange than 62-up

The '57-61 277-301-318 poly has a crankshaft flange with eight bolt holes, that protrudes out of the block farther than the 62-up 318 poly/LA cranks. The '62-66 poly 318 cranks and '67-70 forged LA 318 cranks are identical for all practical purposes. You can install 1962-1991 318 crankshafts in 1957-61 blocks, this way you don't have to track down an adapter, you can use '62-up transmissions and even use new 'stroker' cranks out of the Mopar Performance catalog! (402" poly with a $399 crank turning in it!)
