Jason The problem is that you will have centrifugal RETARD on that 318 distributor so it will not work. It will idle nicely, but that is it. So get your current distributor rebuilt. It probably needs to be rebushed and new springs, and probably a new vacuum advance unit. You could try to find another distributor also. Make sure that all of the wires to and from coil, ballast, and distributor are new and in good shape. Plug wires new? The biggest problem I've found lately is bad condensors. They are not lasting as long as the old ones did. Good luck Steve
