What kind of battery cables do you have on it? 6-volt cars should have 1 gauge or better cables for all 3 cables. Negative to the starter solenoid (positive on your car), solenoid to the starter and the ground cable from the block to the positive battery post. Make sure that the ground strap from the body to engine is in good shape. The worst thing on a 6-volt system are the clamp-on replacement cable ends and/or small 12-volt replacement cables.
