| Your compressor appears to be the deluxe model (with electric clutch) from a 1956 Chrysler, Desoto, Dodge, or Plymouth. All Mopars shared the same compressors, only the engine mounting brackets differed. The ones on this compressor look like the Chrysler type for the V8-354 hemi. The rear bracket with the two fingers, left in 006.jpg, bolt down to the intake manifold. The two holes in the heavy plate underneath bolt down on two special studs and bosses on the special water pump housing. Complete service info on this compressor can be found at least in the 1956 Dodge Passenger Car Service Manual. There is an exploded assembly view of this exact compressor on Page 13. Richard |

The RV-2 is a 2 cyl (V-2) unit, used from that time frame up into the 70's in various configs.
The V type were models 3925 and 3926 for 57-58
This unit, refferred to in the parts book as a "square type", appears to be a 1, 2, or even 4 cyl
vertical unit somewhat like the currently still in use vertical stroke Tecumseh.
Your bracket, #1615491, is the front compressor support for '55 Chrysler & Imperial.

Now the question is, does anyone need this compressor? I would like to swap it for a compressor and brackets that would fit my 58 N/Y wagon with a 392 hemi.
This compressor turns freely and the clutch bearing is smooth. That is really all I know about it. A friend gave it to me, so if someone needs it, let me know.
Thanks Again!

| It would probably bolt right on to the 392 hemi. |

Here's a pic of the compressor on a '56 Imperial.

This is, for sure, the same compressor. Do you need a spare? lol
After doing a little measuring I don't think it would fit on a 58 without doing some changing. The air filter housing would probably be in the way and the bolt tabs on the water pump housing appear to be different. It might even sit too high (hard to tell because the hood is off)
Thanks for the replies.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ | Man, I can't seem to find any brackets to fit the '56 Dodge 315 V8. I have a couple Chrysler ones, but too much fab to make them fit a Dodge Motor. Jay

| I made a set for my Dodge V8-270 hemi in my 55 Plymouth, wasn't too bad. I used the original plate from a Chrysler that goes under the compressor and bolts to the water pump manifold. Richard

Location: Scottsdale, AZ | You guys with the Hemi's are so lucky! You've got a bolt boss on the front of the heads we Poly guys don't have. Makes brackets a lot easier. Nice job man!

| I tried to copy the way Chrysler did it for the Chrysler engines, only making adjustments in the lengths and widths of the plate. I used 1/4" steel plate and used a cutoff to grind down lines to make it easy to fold over for the 90-degree bends. Then filled in the open cuts with a MIG and ground smooth. Took only three hours to make these. After they were painted black, they were twins for the Chrysler original mounts. |

| Hi All,
I know it is an older thread, but I'll give it a shot.
Does anybody have the mounting support /bracket for the HH compressor or the whole compressor with supports / brackets like in the pictures from Rebel and wants to sell it?
This is for my 1955 Chrysler with a 331 Hemi.
Any link or tip is appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter |
