I'm going to peddle MD2 (i.e. , "Moby Dick II" or the 1957 Great White Whale) but known to the uninitiated as a 1957 Chrysler 300C. Any suggestions on the best way to do it?

Location: The Mile High City | Hi, Joe: "best way to do it" might either be 1. get the most money for it; or 2. sell it local Getting the most money for it can be tricky. eBay is a weird place now - it seems like there are a lot of scammers out there. Craigslist may be no better. I think the big auctions (ala Barrett Jackson) are better if you are buying and selling, essentially swapping cars. You may be able to do well putting it on consignment somewhere. Sure, you pay them a commission, but you benefit from their marketing and client knowledge - and you skip the hassle of eBay and Craigslist. It might be worth a call to Farland (they sell high end stuff in Denver) 303-761-1245 to check out that type of option. If it were me, I'm not sure what I would do. The other way is to sell it to someone in the Southern MoPar Club who you know will keep it and enjoy it. That's the way I ended up with the De Soto. Mr. Jones probably didn't get the most for the car, but he knew I wasn't just going to flip it and I drove it back to his house once in a while so he and his wife could see it. I like to think he was pretty happy with the deal. |

I mentioned it to Duane and he suggested you use Hemmings and Auto Round Up to sell your car. |

Thanks for the help. Right now, I'm thinking that Hemmings is the way to go, but I think I'll test the waters first on eBay. I'm not in too particular a hurry but there is a '60 Poncho Ventura Super Duty 4-speed car that looks rather interesting. The powers that be say I can't have it without getting rid of one of the others.
Thanks again,
Joe |

I see you are a Chrysler 300 Club Int'l member. Member or not, the
club will run 300 related ads for free.
Option one is the club website-
http://www.chrysler300club.com/forsale.htm
It's public so everyone can see it. We can get an ad posted in a day or two.
Option two is the club publications. They only go to club members. Some folks
feel more comfortable that a car might stay in the "family". Others, no difference.
It can be a few weeks before an ad gets published.
Or we can also do both. Send me a PM if you are interested.

| Let it go, Facebook, eBay, hemmings, classiccar.con.. do all those. Selling on a 300 site is rough, they all have one, unless they have a friend looking but might as well |

Location: Colorful Colorado skier on the license plate | Joe, I have great luck selling through Hemming's or word of mouth. Use a blind email and a P.O. box. Saves you from lookie loos and photo seekers.
Never give information of where you store your vehicle.
Eliminate the people who want to help you sell your car for you.
Have your banker verify the money and source. I arranged for the exchange at my local police department. Worked great.
I never sold a vehicle to a club member, they already have their own projects. |
