Please notice that the colors from this supplier are generic and differ from the OEM colors. Several stock interior and exterior colors used a sky blue headliner. As an example, the yellow and white Belvedere sedan my dad bought new had a white and patterned black interior, with a sky blue headliner. The material was also different than many cars of the era. It was woven cloth without a nap or pattern of any kind.
I've never replaced one, but I'm told the reason the manual says to remove the front and rear glass is so the material can be saved by lifting it off the teeth that hold it in place. If the old headliner is to be discarded, it can be ripped out and the new material tucked between the rubber and frame with a putty knife.
