Hello everyone. I have a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Newport two door coupe. Was a very nice car originally, it still runs and drives but needs a lot of work and TLC. The car has a lot of OEM options
Power Steering\Power Brakes
Power windows and seats
Factory Air Conditioning
Upgraded AM Radio
The 354 Hemi turns over and runs although there is a thumping sound that I need to investigate, will probably pull it and have it overhauled.
Need to rewire it as the original wiring is in bad shape. Need to have the interior reupholstered.
The fella who had it before me did bodywork on the car and repainted it a different color.
Needless to say, I have done a lot of work on it but have a lot more to do. I have found a lot of vendors who have helped me with parts to fix up the car, but I having issues finding parts like radiators and heater cores. I'd like to restore it to as close to original as possible. Also I would like to find an engine shop in the midwest that is competent in rebuilding the gen 1 hemi's.
If you have any suggestions on OEM\refurb\or replication part suppliers to reach out to that would be great. I have repaired the gas tank but would like to find one in better condition that the one I have the radiator hold fluid and pressure but has a lot of stop leak in it. I can recore it but if I can find a reproduction or one that has already been recored all the better.
I haven't seen repro radiators but they might be around. I though mine was fine until it sprung a pin-hole (or three). I found a rad shop who could recore it and got them to do it. Somewhere around CDN$500.
It would be great if you could post some photos of your car.

Just a word of caution about the repro 56 Chrysler/Desoto fuel tanks. They were originally fashioned from a 55 fuel tank. So the outlet port is on the wrong (driver's) side for 56. You would be better off finding an original, which has the port on the correct side (passenger side). Chrysler/Desoto used the same tank, BTW.
For radiator and heater core, a competent radiator shop can recore both of those. Expect to pay 500-700 for the radiator and about 200-300 for the heater core. BE SURE to get a written warranty.

Eagle Machine in Buffalo, MO does great engine rebuilds on HEMI’s. This is an engine completed by Eagle for a 1956 DeSoto Fireflite Pace Car restoration for Smitty's Classic Cars when he had his shop in Branson, MO.

Wow thank you everyone for the information. I'm in the Kansas City area currently, but I have a place not too far from Buffalo MO so that would be very convenient to be able to take my engine to them to rebuild.

Mike: Nice looking New Yorker. I personally like the look of the 56 New Yorker (and Windsor) more than the 300B. The front end is much cleaner with the New Yorker/Windsor. Congrats.
