This is 1960 Imperial Crown Convertible (BDY 925)
With White Leather Trim (TRM 529)
And Alaskan White Exterior Color (PNT WW1)
Scheduled on September 14, 1959 (SO 0914)
As a Fifth Car since production day is beginning (NUMBER 8505)
Can anyone decoding optional letter codes?
Hint: don't try to decipher it using 1960 Jefferson plant codes – they are not help;
Until May 1961, Imperials were built in Warren plant, at the former DeSoto factory…

Location: Ramona, CA | This sounds like a Shriner's car. They would buy a fleet of matching loaded up Imperial Convertibles right at the beginning of production. In 1960 they were all white like this one. Here's an ad from New Mexico in October 1960 from a used car dealer selling off a bunch of them. A friend has two all white convertibles although both have been painted red now.

Would like to find one of those for 1960 Chrysler. |

The last 0 what is
910 includes 912, 913 and 914.
So 910 would be Custom series, 920 is Crown series and 930 is LeBaron series.

Another ’60 Imperial Crown Convertible that posted by Dave (56D500boy) a couple days ago
Thank you, Dave!
https://www.allcollectorcars.com/for-sale/1960-CHRYSLER-IMPERIAL-CRO...
It is very early (0811 = August 11, 1959) production car
With wrong pink paint (originally Lilac = code RR1)
And with wrong white trim (originally it had a Mauve Leather = code 526)
It has the same optional codes on the data tag except: K7, S1, T2, V1 and XY
It also has different code F5 instead F1 (on the first data tag showed above)
According to my guessing, this is non A/C car equipped with Heater only (F5 = 315)
It is confirmed by pictures…

Errr...Umm...I think Aug 11, 1959 = late build 1959 car, not an early 1960 car. This might be why I liked it. It isn't a 1960 car.
I could be wrong but the new models typically didn't roll out until Oct/Nov so early builds were Sept/Oct.
Somebody will know for sure.

Steve.
Based on the VIN, can we tell if it is real early build (Aug 1959) or late built (August 1960)?
"They were introduced September 1959 as 1960 models and in the dealer showrooms by October of that year. "

Here what I found:
Imperial began producing its 1960 models in August of 1959.
http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1960/Warren/Plant.htm
They shown publicly for the first time on October 2, 1959
http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1960/60Mailer/scan.jpg
Just imagine: this is 143th car since production began (according to the VIN)…
Overall 1960 Imperials built 17,719 units; of these 618 convertibles were built
So, what production this car should be logically: early or late?

This is 100% a 1960 Imperial car model. The front grill of the 1960 Imperial models were completely different from the 1959 models. Also, the biggest difference between the 1959 and 1960 models was the instrument panel dash design, which the 1960 Imperials got a new instrument panel design with the two large circular instrument/gauge clusters and it was the first year that its instrument/gauge panels were lit by its newly developed Panelescent lighting. |
