Location: Ponder, TX		Except for the buttons, I've never seen a mechanism fail. They get dirty and sometimes sticky, but they are extremely rugged. I've made my own Lexan buttons, and modified the internals, but I don't know of anyone who does restoration type repairs.

Agree. A good spray with Moovit/WD40 etc. will help the slides to work better. The most I have ever seen for parts was some springs on eBay.

Otherwise, for 1956, Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler all used the same 1639 977 shifter box (with different buttons (green for Plymouths and Dodges and clear for Desotos and Chryslers)
