| I am in the process of replacing brake shoes on a 1955 Desoto Fireflite. I have replaced the wheel cylinders and have installed new brake shoes. I can’t however get the brake drums back on. I have adjusted the anchor and minor adjustment cams as recommended but still can’t get the drums on. Any suggestions…. I did the same on the rear and it worked well. |

Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Unless the lininings are dead square in relation to the drum, you can't get it back on, common issue on the front. Move the linings around till they look centered on the backing plate. Second check the factory lining thickness, compare them to your new ones, seen them reclined to thick.

Location: christchurch New Zealand | check your new cylinders against the originals, i got caught out where the new cylinder pistons are not as deep where the push rod sits, which in turn has the shoe sitting further out than previous with orig w/c and the drum would not clear. Geoff |
