Swapped out the powerflite for a torqueflite. Found a 3 spd gear selector assembly but it will require cutting out the side of the dash. Did the 59's come with the torqueflite 3 spd pushbutton? I see images of them, but cannot find any for sale.

Thanks. So they were available. Do you know if they came with the Park lever or not? My 64 assembly has that lever, which is why it doesn't fit in the dash as is.

If your car had an automatic to begin with it should be as simple as finding the corresponding 59 Plymouth Torqueflite parts. It should be a bolt in deal. The 59 Plymouth had a parking brake on the lower bottom of the dash, not a parking brake lever like the later cars.

Hand brake. No parking lever. The correct 59 pushbutton assembly for Torqueflite will fit in the same location as the Powerflite pushbutton assembly.

Agree.
If you remove the plate that sits over the shifter buttons and pull the buttons, you will see that the shifter box is held into the cosmetic housing attached to the dash by
two nuts (one each for a stud)
