1956 Dodge Coronet: One filament is the Parking light that stays on when the headlights are one; that is all it does. The second filament is the Brake & Turn Signal.

I have three one-filament bulbs in this cool little assembly that I want to use for a 'third-eye' brake light on the package shelf at the rear window.

Problem is: When a blinker is being used, the whole dang thing will blink if I were to hook up the 3d eye with the brake lights.

I could just hook up the left window light single filament with the left brake/blinker and the right window light single filament with the right brake/blinker, but what do I do with the center window light?

My idea is to hook up the middle 3d eye single filament with both right and left brake/blinker lights as long as I include a diode from both sides, but what kind, size, whatever would that be?

Not sure if this diagram (below) will help or not. Normally there is one two-filament bulbs per side that handle running/park, braking and signal. The signal/braking filament power is controlled by the signal switch, i.e. if the signal is off and you brake, the brake light will come on. HOWEVER, if you have a signal on and you brake, you DO NOT get the brake light on that side, just the blinking filament that you selected.

I imagine that a small "bread board" with diodes on it will help you control the unwanted inputs (??). Since the bulbs are pretty low wattage I image that a 5 Amp diode would work. Draw a diagram of what you need and the direction of the current that you anticipate. It will probably help you figure out where you need to put the diodes.

Install a new wire from the brake light switch directly to the 3rd brake light.....

The wizard is right again, usually the simplest solution is the best, .... but if you want to complicate it in true Mopar fashion, you can use a relay to switch that wire, easier on the switch contacts.

If LED lamps are used the load over the contacts will be negligible.

If normal bulbs are used the spark in the contacts can be decreased with a capacitor

But, .......... I just happen to like relays, my power seats with the memory module removed and replaced with (many) relays.
