The second is Excelsior Springs, and the third is your guess is as good as mine! Enjoy Pete The bottom one is US Highway 90 at Biloxi, just along from President Jefferson Davis home Beauvoir,I haven't been there in 10 years but it hadn't changed much up until then, probably has since then due to Hurricane Katrina.I have visited Beauvoir and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library too. My visit was in February 2003 so this was pre Katrina. The Grounds of Beuvoir sustained considerable damage during the storm and it is estimated that they lost 40% of their artifacts to the storm surge. Phoenix-like though, Beauvoir, the home President Davis lived in for the remainder of his life, has been rebuilt to its pre-hurricane appearance. The Presidential library was also rebuilt and will be reopened in 2011 - probably in April for Confederate Memorial Day. If you're curious about Beauvoir here is their web site: "http://beauvoir.org/index.html'

It wouldn't be much fun to drive over an water/ice covered, smooth, elevated bridge structure. ****************************************** OMG ! ...... you've seen how tires literally polish steel plate laid over street trench work ? Can you imagine how slick such a bridge deck would be with just some rain on it !!!!!! Never mind ice or snow ! While I have never stopped the car to get out and look, just from glancing out the window, the grille-type decking looks to be about 2-3 inches thick and is comprised of multi-profiled bent flat bar, standing on end and riveted together at connecting points. It is much stronger than one would think, but creates the illusion than one could easily fold it under the weight of a car, and in the car of the Hood River Bridge, plunge what looks like about a half mile drop into the Columbia River ! But to the point of the cars getting the *shimmies*, with all those on-end flat bar profiles contacting four different tires, all at different angles of those profile edges, can really get the car feeling like it is sliding, ..... except that it never really goes any direction but where the steering wheel points it. It just continuously feels like it is starting to slide.

Location: Parts Unknown | The photos above showcase some interesting cars. In the border crossing shot, that is a 58 Savoy in my favoritegreen color. Typical to this not-so-often-seen color is the white accent roof and sweep. Note the rarely seen 57 Chevy 150-series 2 door sedan in monotone robin's egg blue. While common compared to most FL cars, the bottom-of-the-line 150 has never found much favor with restorers / collectors and have often been parted out for the ever-present Bel Airs. I have always found this side trim and color sweep option most attractive .... moreso than the upline models. In the Holiday Inn shot, note the Sunshine Yellow with green sweep 58 Suburban. This is not a Custom Suburban as Jim notes, as the Custom series had the kicked-up side sweep out back, with the plain Suburban having the lower, DeSoto-like sweep. Or could it be a 57 ? Hard to tell at the distance of this shot. Not being as familiar with the 57's, did they come with a sweep like this ? Either way, the yellow with green sweep is quite striking and a color combo I have never seen in person. The colors look a bit "enhanced" in this photo from what I know as stock colors for 57-58, but a neat shot anyway. It looks to me like the roof is not green but yellow like the rest of the body.

Thanks for the compliment, David! I really do appreciate that. I am still working on it, to make it more user friendly. I was thinking about the early adaptors wit their iPhones, to direct them straightly to the postcard's location. At the bottom of each page there's a link to my e-mail address that should work. If you - or in that manner, anybody else - send me a message about a mistake (which I realize there must be), I will surely correct it and really appreciate it! Jim.

I do appreciate that! It might have been a special paint job. You can see the Holiday Inn logo on the passenger door. It was probably on the driver's door too. The original Holiday Inn sign around this period was painted yellow and green so maybe the franchise owner painted his "station wagon" the same color to advertise his business. It does look attractive..and the color combination is one I don't remember seeing before on a Plymouth. Location: Parts Unknown | Ah-ha ! Your are correct ! I missed the lettering on the door ! Good detective work ! Cut yerself an extra slice of raisin pie there, eagle eye ! I can also see the further extended 1958 headlight bezel, so it is indeed a 1958, and that would confirm it as a Suburban and not the Custom. Those colors are quite flattering on that car.

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | There's been some discussion about how the contemporary buying public could forsake the appearance of the FWDLK'ers, in the 60's.... Exhibit A is the appearance of the 1960 Chrysler, against that of the 1959 Chrysler, as seen in 4-posts above here. The 1960 CHRY represented the hope and appearance of the 60's..the 1959 CHRY represented the history of the just-passed 50's. I don't even know if the TERM "retro" was invented, before 1970... The 50's stylings were looking backwards; the 60's stylings were looking Forward. Of course, now, EVERYTHING is looking backwards, and the comparative merits of the two decades' stylings can be compared and contrasted objectively, and subjectively. But, back in the early 60's (when our cars were literally disappearing from the landscape, or, INTO the landscape--lolol) virtually nobody mourned the passing of the FWDLK'ers..... because everybody was looking Forward, to the Moon. BTW, that PC, above here, with "Goldwater's" department store on it, was obviously taken in Phoenix/Scottsdale AZ and that store-chain belonged to the family of Barry Goldwater.
