Some pics from summers fun!
The 300C is making progress in Fridbergs shop!

As you already know we love Adventurers in Malung, here´s Erik Ollas beauty!

Best is of course when the top is off! Lollo Ekbergs unrestored convertible on my driveway!

This is me, posing with friend Qvintus mean custom project!

Visit at Britt-Marie & Leffes place in Tjällmo a hot summerday. They are into 59´s

This one is in need of some love

Will be a real beauty on the Swedish roads someday!
Sorry for quirky cellphone pics!

That '58 Olds rear sure is an ugly duckling, but it does make a pretty good couch.

Hello Tom! I have worked a lot with my health this summer and feel much better now. Hope to be able to visit some more events again in the future.
Västerås is much nicer than before with plenty of good cars, going there again as usual next year.

As for the Olla family, they have lived in Malung since 1785, maybe longer ... :)

Here's some photos from master Jan, the two door sedan will be rebuilt into a convertible.
The convertible was far to bad for to be saved.

The first photos shows the dedicated buck and the fabrication of the special convertible wheel wells

A true craftsman at work, imagine the time and effort put into those wheel wells!

Next series of photos shows the mounting of the wheel wells in the car.

In all honesty if you dont have access to a magazine to order a said part like a camaro or mustang. its the best thing to do. i fully support this. but........im sure there will be a whiner out there complaining abut it.

what there doing is the same thing a modern day collision shop is doing with your brand new whatever you drive. absolutely no diff

Ditto! Eveyone's opinion about what was already done simply isn't relevant.  The workmanship is something we can all admire.

Master Jan is now working on the third Dodge convertible with two more in line. Yet to be decided if he'll work on 3 or 4 simulaneous for synergy effects.
I bet there's no piece of sheet metal on these cars that Jan hasn't full knowledge of.

I wish he would reproduce the middle mount too, instead of just the front & rear. Most of the time, it's the middle one that's bad.

The amazing step I would like to see is how Jan transforms from tack weld to gleaming contour, see pics img_2684-rez.jpg before and #2689 after. For me the metal walks in many directions!

westaus 29 you have to weld shorte areas in diferent plases on the welding line.i do 3 spots abouth half inch longabouth 10 inch from eatchother and graind the welds if the metal starts to
go in wrong derection i use hamer and dolly to lift it back .when i done the weldingseem complite i carfully grind bouth sides of the weld and put it in the english weel and do some wery low pressure runs on the welding
pressure is good if you cange direction to rewerse fast and the wheel lose the grip a little on the metall then you will se wher you need a little harder pressure till it is smooth and straith
Good luck JAN

The press tools for convertible bow '57 - '59 are now ready and the first batch pressed. Master Jan really did it this time, very professional work - just admire and drool over it.

Jan sent me a video and I'll try to post or embed it here, probably through Youtube.

Thanks for the feedback on welding technique Jan. I just saw it today when I looked at your latest amazing product for the convertible. I would love a convertible but here in Oz I am very lucky to have a 55 RHD 4 door suburban wagon with stubby chicken wings.

I agree with your advice, I probably get impatient and go too fast. I use mig with gas and 0.6mm wire, and the weld bead is very hard which makes it difficult to straighten. Is this normal or do you use a different method?

I have been doing bodywork on bad projects cars since 1986 so I have some experience.
Jan Fridberg is really not of this world when it comes to bodywork.
He must have a incredible ability to visualize the work before he starts. Usually it goes to hell right from the start.
I bow...

It seems like a complete "kit" to turn any '57-59 coupe into a convertible could be a good investment.

Again, we enjoy the updates, keep them coming!

Only non FL-types would turn a graceful FL coupe into a clumsy cvt. I'd prefer a kit to turn a convertible into a coupe, or even 4 d ht.

What got me into FL 44 years ago was the mid-century design, with the most unique and dominant feature, those sweeping "light" rooflines, not the fins, with lots of glass and chrome, giving these cars that spezial airy look. So I never considered buying something that looks like a clumsy, wrinkly tent on wheels and never bought one (even though they were still cheap in the 80s)

A cloned cupe to a conv is not interesting in my opinion. And in my opinion should cost less than a real cupe.
But I know that many buyers today pay big bucks for cloned convertibles. But of course you can enjoy riding in a cloned convertible.
I think this.

Must say I think too that the coupes are the most beautiful ones...haven`t ever understood the convertible hype. I had a convertible once but my wife always complained when the roof was down.
And for me it`s more important to show the car than to show the people inside it..but the only thing that matters is that everybody can have it their own way
