My palm tree managed to live through another winter, and now it is busy mutating into something that always seems to scare the neighbours.

It develops some kind of fast-growing seed pod thingys every other year or so.

These photos show how the tree changed from the end of April until today. The seed pods will fall off in about a week, and then the tree will go back to looking like itself again, like the whole, terrible thing never happened.

Anybody know what the intrinsic food value of Desotos would be?

Not very much, Greg. Of Course, if you contribute some animal or vegetable material to the Desoto, things might change!
Ask Doc, as he appears to know a little bit about DeSotos.

On a quiet day you can hear those old Desoto's rusting!

Here in tropical north Australia, palm trees are very common, and this type of thing is everywhere. Normal protocol is to take to ém with the Machete or better still, chainsaw.

Steve.

Minerals for sure and lots of calories in all the rubber stuff. The tree looks primitive enough to thrive on the 57 isocyanate foam under the dash pad!! I wouldn't park too close to it!

I showed your pics to my wife. She thought it looked gorgeous!! Better sleep with one eye open, huh?

The Aussies say the same thing about kangaroos and birds that Americans pay $1000 for
to keep as exotic pets.
