Robert, I'll have to try fitting the metal registers to the '59, I was told they would fit, but have not tried it myself to verify this.

wanted: 1958 plymouth/dodge torque flight shift cable to be used with push button selectors.

I suspect cable was same for several years. Can you please inform me? that would allow me to broaden my search.
also need for 56 plymouth: door sills for both front doors from a 4 door sedan. Mine are "ragged".
thankyou

Do you have the small piece of trim on the lower part of the side pear on front quarter on a 57 Firedome as per pic. I need the lower piece for the door as well but mine is 2 dr and i think you only have a 4 door.
Also i don't suppose you have a trunk lock and key that would fit and the lenses for the roof lights.
Let me know if you can help.
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon, I do have the lower fender trim piece, but no trunk locks with the key. Are you referring to the lenses for the interior dome lights?

Simon,

George Laurie makes repro dome lenses, I'd check with him, as originals are brittle and can seldom be used. I'm not aware of there being a difference in the 2-door VS 4-door fender moldings, can you measure the length and I can compare?

Thanks, John

Thanks for the pointer on the dome lenses i will cjheck it out. Re the botom fender trim it was omeone at the NDC that said the 4 door is shorter but i have no way of comparing. I have measured as best i can and the length of the trim piece as measured re the length on the fender (as opposed to the curved length of the trim itself) appears to be 14.5 inches. I might be very very slightly out as my trim is bent over a bit at the end.
Does that sound the same size as yours?
Thanks

Simon,

I measured the curved trim piece on the Firesweep, and it is just 10 1/2" long. The trim piece above it was 13 1/2".

Hi Robert, I removed a defrost resister assembly from a '57, and measured both the holes, on in a '59, and one in a '57. Both are 4" diameter. The defrost register from the '57 seems to fit snugly in the dash of a '59 Plymouth.

Robert, I do have a good steering wheel core from a desert car [good chrome] If you wish, I could send it directly to Koch's for you, as a matter of fact, I will eventually need to have one done for my own car, maybe we could get a discount if I send both at once?

Maybe other items you send to me together with the wheel?
I will send you the money for items and repair the steering wheel.

Robert, I do have a good core deluxe steering wheel, the price on it is $85. If you wish, I'll call Koch's to get a price on having both done at once. If I get them back in time, Matthew could pick them up here rather than shipping air mail.

Hi Nick, I currently have only bent and damaged rear valance panels. I do get good ones from time to time, though. No luck on the Fury inserts either.

Robert,
I just got off the phone with Koch's, they quoted me $650 to recast the clear and repair the handgrips on a good core steering wheel. If I have mine sent at the same time, they will take off $50 per steering wheel.

Please send me an e-mail, and I can get you a total tally on the parts.

Hi Big M, I'm after an odometer for my '58 Dodge Sierra, as it has just stopped rolling, opened it up but it seems to have siezed solid and as my fuel gauge doesn't work it's my only way of gauging roughly how much fuel i've left in the tank!!! I'm guessing the part was common to most cars of the era plus or minus a year. I'd be interested in a clock too if there is one lying around. I'm in the UK and can PayPal you.

Cheers, Saul

Hi Saul, I do have a good working speedometer head assembly, as well as a good working fuel gauge. Are you sure it's the gauge and not the sending unit, which goes out more often?

I have good solid doors from a '57 Chrysler coupe, priced at $300, this is for the body panel and not the glass. I probably have everything to make the doors complete, if needed.

Hi John, Sorry for late reply I was expecting a notification of reply which didn't come. Thanks, i'd like the speedo head unit please, what price includng shipping to the UK, zip code PO6 3AX in Portsmouth. As for the fuel guage i agree it is probably the sender unit but it looks like a nightmare job to replace, have you any experience of that? I'm assuming i'll have to drop the tank to do that? Might be easier if you reply to me at traveller816@aol.com so I won't have to trawl through all the messages in the thread to find my reply or pm me.

Many thanks for getting back to me.

Saul, it's all well and good to have spare parts; got 3 spare speedos me-self; but, the odometer does appear to
be 'frozen', rather than having any-all of the tumblers rotate.

What you should do/check, is: hold the tumblers in one hand, and see if you can spin the "10ths" tumbler,
and see if the mile-digit/tumbler will move.

I once turned back an odometer (still have it, too) to 0000.0, from about 40k, by spinning the "10ths" with my
thumb (while watching the Tube..)...over the course of a month or so, periodically.

IIRC, each spin of the "10ths" tumbler would reverse (or advance) the mileage by about one-tenth mile.

By the time I got to 'zero' , some of the 10ths-digits' paint was worn away, but, a very fine brush & black paint restored
their appearance...it was a fun exercise!

Of course, there is/must-be a way to disassemble the odo-assembly, but that was not self-explanatory,
so, I just 'whittled' away at the mileage, and kept the assembly intact.

Neil, I too have lovingly caressed my tumblers (and I do mean tumblers!!) mine got stuck at 04299.9 halfwa to 04300.0. However the only way they will roll now is under manipulation of the fingertips. I couldn't see how to open them up (as you said not obvious), the manual doesn't cover it and i've just recieved the parts book i had ordered but it's doubtful there'll be anything there iether as i believe these were "bought in". So when i get a working replacement i can attemp taking the original apart without the wory of damaging it and leaving myself without. In short the tenths tumbler rotates but gets stuck every time 9 comes up, the others seem ok.

I bought a year ago or so a supposedly NOS odometer for my '58 Plymouth.
Upon receiving it, I checked it and saw that it couldn't rotate normally.

That's when I saw that there was something written on the Autolite box, almost washed away from all those years : "Warranty - locked" !!!
It seems something has broken inside, or something is loose.
Anyway, I will try to disassemble my old one (as a training), to see if I can repair the "NOS" one.

John,
I 'm looking for the following for my 58 Belvedere:

Fan control knob for the dash with the big "F" on it.
The aluminum trim for the center dash where ignition, fan, heater slide are. Mine's all scratched.
Right rear valance/splash pan in good shape.

Let me know if you can help me out at all.

Thank you, sir.

I think I have a decent repairable one, I'll have to check. Looking forward to your visit as well!

Jason, I have a decent aluminum dash bezel with only a few minor scratches near the ignition switch, a nice unpitted Fan know as well.

The right rear valance is another story- all I have left are mangled badly, and would take hours of concentrated hammer and dolly work to straighten.

Thanks, John. I definately want they fan knob. Let me know your price. If you can email a pic of the dash bezel if it's not too much trouble to crjgurski@yahoo.com I would greatly appreciate it. I'll keep hunting the valance. May end up going repro on that.

Thank you in advance, sir.

Jason, figure $10 on the fan knob. I'll send you a photo of the bezel shortly.
