Hello fellow FL members. I am looking for some opinions on aftermarket wheels for a 57 imperial.

I am Hoping to find something classy and fitting for the appearance of an imperial. Wire wheels are acceptable, its just hard to stomach the price of a new set with correct bolt pattern.

Thanks for any input.

The reason I am looking is because my stock steels will no longer fit over my 4 wheel disc setup.

aftermarket and decent look usually does not go together. imo stock wheels with whitewalls are hard to beat. however, i think the centerline stealth aluminum wheel looks nice. you can paint them and put, with some work, any classic center cap on you like. these are good quality wheels. 0.50" offset should be right.

ps i forgot imperials have a larger bolt circle, not sure if that is available.

I ended up using the Elite series on my '56 Plymouth with the original dog dish caps. It came out pretty nice.

http://centerlinewheels.com/wheels_detail.php?mw_id=117&sw_id=956

But if you don't want to go with an aluminum wheel, you should call Wheel Vintiques to see if they can make you a set of custom wheels. If they won't do it, there are a number of other companies that will take your original centers and put new rims on them. They can even weld 14" centers onto 15" hoops if you want. Stockton Wheel is one such company that can do this.

Nice, your brakes look pretty serious. What diameter rims did you use? I went with 17" just to get better tire selection, but I am thinking a little smaller may have been better.

Hence the word I chose "opinions" LOL because I agree with how you put it. Tasteful, functional, classy is also a matter of opinion in a lot of cases. Attached photo I think most can agree is terrible yet lots of people in southern California do this ugly crap to their cars. Seems to be popular among the young Mexican males. It's stupid, looks bad, functions even worse than it looks, causes the ride to be terrible due to the need to completely stiffen the suspension so the tires don't rub on the body when going over bumps yet people still do it. Mind boggling for sure.

I think a set of American Racing VN478 turbines would look good, but they cost about the same as a set of spoke wheels.

Now those I agree look good and may pass on just about any forward look. I like them more than spoke wheels. Glad something like that exists I may save up for those for my 300F that is missing hub caps.

Can do without the gold color though. haha typo on their website. It says its a 1961 imperial. Great photo on the website.

I plan on using some of these chromed and I will trim the gap out of the dodge spinners and use them for center caps.

so imagine this all chrome with a knights head in gold.

those wheels look amazing on that car and you can pull off a wide whitewall with it. Great classic quality look. I might look into those as long as they aren't 2000$ a rim but they don't look cheap.

not horribly expensive, around 400-500$ a piece. Not cheap of course but those are nice.

http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/wheel/model/3035/intro-wheels-imperial-polished-finish-vintage-rwd

these billet specialties are nice looking also.  they are like 650$ a rim.   If they look like a "hubcap" they usually are pretty nice.

i always wanted to put spinners to a painted wheel with dog dish type hub cap, that way the chrome spinners reach into the painted areas of the wheel. i have never seen that before on any car and thought it would look nice and period correct. this looks similar. nice clean wheel.

I can experiment a little if I get the wheels all chromed, I can mix and match the lip and center with paint(prob white).

Im thinking about 16 inch rims.
