Was checking out some pics of Aussie right hand drive FLs I always remembered the 59 Chevy RH drive from mad max. Where were RH drive Chrysler products assemble? If you import a Left hand drive car from the states do you have to covert it to drive it in Australia?

Left hand drive vehicles can be registered in Australia. Each State has different requirements so you need to check what is required in your State.
Right Hand Drive vehicles were imported as a complete kit knocked down (CKD) and assembled in South Australia. 57, 58, 59 all used the same 57 dash.
A few panels like the firewall were pressed here in Australia and some of the smaller components were made here to compliment the fledgling manufacturing market.

I wonder about the firewall

The firewall still has the profile for the reinforcement plate for the brakes on the left as well

I have noticed on my 60 Plymouth (factory lhd) that to make it rhd, as well as having to duplicate that pressing, the plenum chamber
needs to be shortened by about 1".

I cant remember why, but it was in the way of the brackets under the dash (I think)

On the 60 dodges here, they got the 60 Plymouth dash and so did the Chrysler royals (at least the speedo) and same for the trucks, but just not in the pod

Its quite surprising when you really dig into these cars (in my case, the 60 dodge and Plymouth) the differences between the factory r/h and left hand variants

So,they were semi assembled in Detroit, then exported to Australia and finished? Or they were parts shipped to Australia and assembled there? Just curious.

I remember hearing a story where somebody had a Australian charger shipped to the states and trouble with customs and DOT issues because it was RHD?

Fully disassembled

On my 60 dodge, I noticed a difference in the assembly of the front fender.

The US assembled one, the headlight bucket is spot welded in, the Australian one is brazed

The license plate holder in the boot (trunk) is made bigger to accommodate the Australian number plate

There are lots of Australianisms to the cars built here that I found

Australianisms? I like that.

This shows a good example of our Australianisms in action.
The firewall on the US model is reasonably neat with nice lines around the panels. Canadian firewalls are similar.
The Australian firewall is not so tidy.
This is for 57 thru to 59. 1960 might be different.

I see what you mean with the LHD brake mount metal work.
