| Just got this auto trans from a old closed auto repair shop. Looks to 50s Chrysler? 8 bolts on the converter.
Just wondering what it fits? Says bonnalite on tail shaft housing. Looks to be in good condition if anybody needs it?

Location: Eastern Iowa | look for a stamped 7 digit part number along the sides of the bottom rail of the main case.
Should be a 7 digit number stamped there and it would I.D the unit for applications to be found in the parts book. |

Location: Lower Mainland BC | In the 55-58 Mopar Parts Manual, it says that the 1530 857 transmission case extension was for the 55-56 Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler 6 cyl and 8 cylinder 2 spd Powerflites. I see air-cooling vents on the bellhousing and no oil cooling lines on the left side of the transmission so I would *guess* that this is an air-cooled Powerflite not used in the larger Chryslers and Imperials, i.e. everything else in 55-56 (or ??).
I didn't find anything on the number you quote, ie. 1408 240. The "14" implies 1954 but I didn't get any hits, even in the 50-65 Mopar Parts interchange manual.
Good luck.

Location: NorCal | It's a Powerflite, the external shift lever suggests it's a pre-'56. |
