I’m getting a bit of white smoke at startup and occasionally when driving out of the left tail pipe.
Any thoughts on what this may be? I am noticing that it seems to be running rich. Strong fuel smell in exhaust.

White smoke usually is a sign of water or coolant. Are you loosing any water out of your radiator? If not, I assume you have dual exhausts and maybe there is more water accumulating in the left side muffler. Most people don't realize that when you burn a gallon of hydrocarbons you get more than a gallon of water as a byproduct out the exhaust, usually in the form of vapor except when starting cold.

And if the heat riser valve in the RH hand manifold is working, the bulk of the exhaust is coming out of the LH side when the engine is cold.

I haven’t seen any coolant loss. I do have dual exhaust. I was wondering if it could be a valve or something like that. Smoke is definitely not black or blue.

So my coolant WAS low. I am assuming this means a head gasket, or worse. Any thoughts on what gasket brand will perform best? Anyone else tackle this issue?

Head gasket problems are unknown in the world of Mopar big blocks. OK, you never know who worked on, or modified the engine, still unlikely.

There is one more test you can do, actually two. Find someone with a coolant pressure tester maybe an auto parts store loaner and pressure up the coolant system to make sure you don't have a leaky hose or rad. also check the heater core. The other test is a kit to check for a leaky head gasket. It connects to the radiator filler with a liquid chemical and you run the engine. If water is leaking into the combustion chamber, you will also most likely have gasses in the coolant and this test will show that. Most repair shops should have these testers. You don't want to pull the heads if it is not needed.

So I ran the car cold without the radiator cap. I ran it up to temp. No bubbles in the coolant. I guess this is a good sign.

Any thoughts?

Water is a normal product of combustion, what you may be seeing is simply water vapor. Head gasket problems generally arise when an engine is hot, and the radiator pressure is driving water out.

Fuel smell in the exhaust is generally due to unburnt fuel exiting a cylinder, and out the tailpipe. Common causes are engine misfire due to tune up problems, engine compression issues [burnt valves], misadjusted carburetor or stuck choke.

Compression check, either static or dynamic.

John- I am reallybonly noticing the smoke at start up. I am now noticing that the car seems to be harder to start after I drive for a while, like it is flooded. I have to floor the pedal and then it will turn over. Carb maybe?

Yes, or the choke setting is too aggressive. As far as the white smoke on startup, burning oil can look white too. When I had too much oil in my crankcase and smoked out the entire neighborhood, the smoke color was primarily white, not grey/blue like people say. It depends on what you are comparing it to. But a water leak in the exhaust is more of a white vapor like an e-cigarette.
