Location: Lower Mainland BC | Un-freaking-believable BS:
"1956 Dodge Cornet D500, Super Rare... In 1956 Karl Kiekhaefer requested Chrysler build him a Dodge D-500 with the same 354 as the Chrysler 300B, strictly for NASCAR competition on short tracks, due to the Dodge's shorter wheelbase... 94 were made, 50 of which were purchased by Kiekhaefer, and the remaining 44 were commercially released (the following year, 1957, is when the famous 354 D-501 was released)... Chrysler had no intentions of releasing a 354 Dodge in 1956, hence this car's rarity."
Just like rainbow coloured unicorns. *Very* rare ;).
Except in some people's apparently vivid imagination.
Funny that there is *NO* documentation to support that story. Pretty sure the only true part is Carl Kiekhaefer's team did race 56 D500s (probably D500-1 engines) as well as 300Bs in 56.
