lMany years ago when these were called new, I owned one like this.  I have owned many Imperials since, but never got this one out of my system.  I had to sell it to go overseas (I am a retired US Army Officer).  I recently found one to restore, and at age 82 wanted an easy restoration job.  I have not get this one home yet, but think that I can make it look new again.  Wish me luck!

Good luck Don. You are obviously a brave man to take this on at 82. Pace yourself and don't do too much heavy lifting.

I got my 56 Dodge in Sept. 2016 to take my mind off health issues (heart surgery) and it worked real well that way. Now I am possessed by the thing.

Thanks, I had a 56 Dodge one time as well, I can understand your interests. So far it has been easy finding all I need for the Imperial, only stumped on several little things like the steering wheel center portion, the letters I and M on one fender, and a left rear door piece of chrome. After 60 years it seems the old parts cars have been crushed. I too had heart surgery but with a pacemaker and a defibrillator I reckon I will live forever now!

Looks like a nice original car. Can the paint be polished out? Good luck and enjoy it.

It is a 70s repaint in Imrom, and can be polished out, but it will go straight to the paint shop when delivered to me. It is actually a recolor job from its original pink, but I personally will only want the maroon metallic color like one I had and this one has been changed to.
Yes, it is a very complete original and a good one to do an easy resto on..

Parted one exactly like that years ago, same color even!
Kids had completely trashed it, inside and out.
darn shame is what it was.
There wasn't a gage or piece of glass on it that wasn't smashed.
Par6s of it went to folks all around the country.

Hello Don! If you ever need some extra inspiration to finish your car, here's a photo of my 59 Imperial in your same color scheme.

BTW - the steering wheel center you need appears periodically on eBay. If you search for it regularly you'll eventually find one.

Wow! Inspiration big time for sure Mr Bob, beautiful car. A couple of questions: Is that the exact original color (the original faded quickly in the Texas sun on mine)? Do you know the history, mine was exactly like yours years ago, could be the same car. Thanks for the tip, I have saved searches on EBay for anything 59 Imp. Wow that is nice!
I would love more photos of yours, can you PM me some?

That imron repaint is bulletproof stuff. Nothing made now even comes close. Also fine metallic pigment is no longer available because it causes global warming. I'd have it professionally detailed.

I re-sized the original photo so that it's easier for everyone to see.
