Subject: Front suspension and chassis detailing - 1957 Plymouth

I’m interested in what original finishes were on front suspension and other chassis components.

From what I’ve seen, the cast iron parts (strut, etc) were left a natural finish, and the stamped steel parts (control arms, etc) were painted black. Does that sound correct from owners of original cars?

Was the spindle left natural finish, or was that painted black?

Where is a good resource for how torsion bars should be detailed?

spindle was natural uncoated, my torsion bars were painted black.
