Location: Grand Prairie TX - Dallas Area | The A/C belt (only 1 belt on the A/C, not 2) on my 1959 Dodge Custom Royal 4dr keeps slipping and falling off. This time, it fell off and took ALL the other belts with it, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Been stranded 3 times now due to belts falling off. Warning! Be ready to wait a very long time time for tow truck and ride during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Tow truck drivers won't give you a ride.
Anyway, I have a lot of accessories on this car:
* Level Flite Rear Air Suspension Compressor (works perfect!)
* Air Conditioning (on the LEFT side of engine - Single belt just doesn't seem to be enough on these old compressors))
* Power Steering
* Standard Generator with a single pulley (on the RIGHT side of engine)
QUESTION: Does anyone have a diagram of how the belts should be arranged on this engine with these accessories?
I haven't seen any pictures or diagrams of an engine with these accessories in this arrangement.
I've seen many pictures where the A/C compressor has 2 belts, but mine only has one belt. (Simply not enough pulleys for the 2nd belt)
Am I missing a pulley?
Any suggestion will be very welcomed. I always appreciate EVERYONE's comments.
I'll leave it here for now, and hope there is a simple answer. But will be happy to take and send pictures later if needed.
Thanks all!

Location: Ramona, CA | Couldn't find a 1959 Dodge service manual but here are the diagrams from the Chrysler manual. The Plymouth manual doesn't show belt routing. Couldn't find a DeSoto one either.
I know these show 2 belts on all the A/C cars.

Location: Grand Prairie TX - Dallas Area | WOW! This is perfect. Thank you! I'm obviously missing a pulley based on the MC-1 setup with Suspension Compressor. I have about a dozen 1959 Dodge and Mopar repair manuals and never found this this image. THIS FORUM IS AMAZING!!! Thank you so much! |
