Good looking car!  Lots of little issues to sort out, which is unfortunate at that price.  What you can see of the seats and door panels looks marvelous.  "Unrestored"? that seems unlikely.  The engine compartment looks like a mess.  What happened to the gold block letters / script, rear bumper guards, and gas pedal?  Now that they remanufacture the exhaust tips, this car really should have them.  1957 wheel covers and narrow white walls don't help.  Too bad they didn't peel those hideous seat covers all the way off for the photo shoot.  Needs the stock speaker covers on the rear package shelf.  I need to go check it out in person!

It is coded for Poppy Red and Eggshell White.  I much prefer the saddle paint scheme (as opposed to the deluxe) on the spring specials. This one has the late headlight doors, but it's missing the front license plate bracket.  Beautiful car!

Ah yes, the impenetrable and mysterious Los Angeles plant cowl tags. I think we are still waiting for somebody to unearth the Rosetta stone to figure out the translation from Letters and numbers to descriptive words.

You would think those M codes would reference accessory groups.  I think Vedder could read these LA tags, but he guarded that information zealously.  Maybe Greg can read them?

I'm going to try to take a look at the car tomorrow.

I know Neil did work on them but he didn’t share it with me, I was only interested in Detroit built cars.

The first time I spoke with Neil, sometime back in the late 1980s, he said he was compiling info to write a book on these cars. As late as when he was in the treatment centre in Reno he phoned me to check on some research we had done together because he was still working on the “book”.

I have no idea where all his info/notes went but it wouldn’t surprise me if, someday, we will see a book!!

Something definitely should point to the «Spring Special» package on the cowl tag…
Like on the Detroit-built Regal Lancers tag first number «5» in the paint code: 5XSX, 5SXS or 5SAS…
So, maybe M3=5 means spring special package?
While a M4=3 means Dual Antennas (code 333)?

Jay Soneff sent me an email today and said he had sold the car this past weekend to a fellow who is going to finance it.  I didn't get a chance to see it in person.

I went out to see the car today and met Jay Soneff - he's in the background in one of the images I took.  Jay was really great to meet and he was very nice to let me check out the car.  Jay told me that the car had be bought and paid for and he had removed the front seat to do some repairs on the springs.  He said a local fella bought it, so maybe I will see it again.  There were a few little rough spots on the car, particularly on the front stainless trim under the hood.  I am not sure how much the car actually sold for, but I bet it was over the "buy it now" price on eBay.  It was an eye-opener as far as value goes.  I felt around on the top side of the glove box for the broadcast sheet (with Jay's permission), but did not feel it there.  The interior was more impressive in person than in the images.
