Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | Do anyone recall reading on this site that someone was repopping the RARE passengerside exhaust manifold with the heat tube for a 1959 dodge Super d500? I remember reading about it here. I searched high and low for the article and could not find it yet .

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | Wasn't that same exhaust manifold used from 1958-61 ? with the 1958 361 , 59 383 , 60 383 , 61 413 .

'60 switched to the ram induction setup and have their own one-year only manifold. '61 lost the generator mount so it is 1961 only.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | question....... I read somewhere that the tube that runs up to the choke is not under any exhaust pressure flow , there's approx 4-5" tube and that is inserted into the manifold off that nipple . Is that correct ? 1954 hemi had the manifold heat tube for the choke also.

I read somewhere that the tube that runs up to the choke is not under any exhaust pressure flow , there's approx 4-5" tube and that is inserted into the manifold off that nipple . Is that correct ? 1954 hemi had the manifold heat tube for the choke also. Here is an example of a 55 Dodge hemi with an insulated (covered) metal tube from the nipple on the passenger side exhaust manifold to the choke. No flow per se but heat. But first, here is a 59 D500 showing the same type of choke heat tube Edited by 56D500boy 2020-06-08 1:11 PM (NicelyDetailedEarly55_270HemiWithFactoryEmbossedValveCoversThatHaveBeenPainted.jpg) Attachments ---------------- NicelyDetailedEarly55_270HemiWithFactoryEmbossedValveCoversThatHaveBeenPainted.jpg (136KB - 217 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9854 Location: Lower Mainland BC | d500dodge59 - 2020-06-08 10:15 AM The tube goes right thru the manifold and get hot and that makes the air to rush to the choke I am not sure about the "rushing" to the choke part but I will agree about how the tube works inside the manifold, i.e. gets hot: (56DodgePolyExhaustManifoldShowingChokeHeatTubeOnOutside.jpg) (56DodgePolyExhaustManifoldShowingChokeHeatTubeOnInside.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56DodgePolyExhaustManifoldShowingChokeHeatTubeOnOutside.jpg (202KB - 215 downloads) 56DodgePolyExhaustManifoldShowingChokeHeatTubeOnInside.jpg (187KB - 211 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8947 Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | from what i summized , the old thread was deleted as infighting had occurred during its length with some i remember quite clearly . it was mostly about them being produced lawfully/unlawfully and some not being grateful that someone took it upon them self to have them reproduced . some even left the forum because of it --------------------------------------------later

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | wow ! That's why I couldn't find that topic about that manifold. one more thing to add is behind the round cover on the carb choke , there is a tiny hole that goes into the carb body and I think it has some suction on it maybe to draw some heat up thru the tube into the choke .
