As I can't afford all the real cars I want (unless I either have a major change in career trajectory or hit the lottery), I build models....lots of models.

A couple of years ago, I picked up a resin 1959 Dodge Mayfair. It's a mostly complete kit, except for a few small parts I can source elsewhere.

The Mayfair, from what I understand, used the interior of the American Plymouth Belvedere, with somewhat similar exterior trim.

My question is...did the Canadian Dodges use Plymouth colors, or did they use Dodge colors? I ask about this because these cars were essentially Plymouths, and I've often wondered which division's construction practices would prevail.

I picked up some Iceberg White (which seems to be pretty universal for all Chrysler products of the era), and Caribbean Blue (a '59 Plymouth spring color). Would that be a correct color scheme, or do I need Dodge colors? My understanding is that the interiors would have matched the Belvedere.

If anyone knows the answer, thanks for your help.

All Canadian-built cars shared the same colour choices in any given model year, as they all came down the same assembly line. So, a Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, or Chrysler would have the same colours available. Some colours were same as U.S. build cars, but sometimes with a name change. Other colours were specific to Canada.

Looks like I need to re-evaluate my color choices. On the bright side, I have word that a '59 Sport Suburban will be coming in resin, and the Caribbean Blue would be nice for that.

Thanks.

Interesting. Curious, do you know if they were entirely unique colors, or if they were mostly re-named? I'm looking at doing the '59 I have now in two-tone Jade/Aquamarine sweepspear and roof, and would like to see if that would have been a valid combination.

Here are the American 1959 Plymouth paint colours (I don't see Jade or Aquamarine):
