Hello Everyone...
While certainly not a "Golden Fin" car...this is a car that may be ready to
take to Tulsa provided there is a place for it. I guess you could say it is
somewhat akin to the one that will be dug up. Its just a matter of having
time to finish it before... say June 10th.
On a previous email I had the wrong email address for some pictures of it
and the friends that are contributing to it. The correct email address is
photos.zimmerer.net and the password to view the picture's is
57heaven
The car is a total restoration with some enhancements. The main one is the
392 Hemi set-up like the Hemi in a 300C and the torqueflite with the extra
clutches (Thanks Mike) and the 57 Chrysler Optional Sure Grip Rear End.
We were inspired by the 1957 Hot Rod Magazine effort...ours is a spin off of
that. While this car will never see 180 MPH... the engine did dyno out at
about 389 HP at 5,200 RPM. When we kicked it up to 5,800 RPM it went past
400 HP. You will notice that the engine is painted black ...that's for
me...I am not suggesting that Chrysler Corporation actually ever did this.
Also we are installing the Chrysler 300C Power Seat Option...that required a
floor pan sourced by Howard Order and some interpolation as to where to
locate it in the shorter wheel based Plymouth. It will also have disc
brakes on the front.
Not far from these enhancements will be the stock components for this
car...IE... the ready to go Fury Optional Engine...the FP31 and all the
components for the original drum brakes. As for the Power Seat Chrysler
enhancement...that's it...but do have the original lever controlled slide
action seat if that is ever a consideration.
If you choose to view the pictures you will see a nice 57 Fury in the
corner...Its a good one and its next in line...hope I/we can get to it.
Special thanks to my son Adam for compiling these pictures and to everyone
who has assisted. When done with the project I will be formerly thanking
everyone who has assisted. There assistance has made it possible to be this
far along with the project.
To say the least...the Fined Cars are an inspiration and perhaps even a
reason for living. That last comment is a stretch...but they sure do liven
things up!
Best Wishes All...Len Zimmerer
