I believe in doing it in the manner that an Imperial was as it rolled out the
door. You have a vehicle which was marketed to a buyer who had $$$ and liked
power. The 1956 two door Imperial was the highest one could go in the MoPar
family of sport and wealth automobiles.
What this means is that have the local muffler shop ( non national chain type
) bend you a new set of duals using the newest technical know-how such as the
"X" system into a pair of quality high flow mufflers. The longer the "can"
of the muffler the lower the audio level of the exhaust. As you seek advise,
remember sound does not mean that you are having power. Glass-packs are not
mufflers. If the sound is above the " Country Club " audio levels of a
gentleman's ride then control it with the quality that one gets from resonators.
You asked what every one else is doing with exhaust. You and your 1956
Imperial will get more phrase if the evaluators claim they can hardly hear the
exhaust as they overlook the two door.
In an related subject find and rate the exhaust note of the most powerful car
of 1956 from all of the american car makers. This icon of speed and power
which was also known as the "Banker's Hot Rod" had a top speed of over 130 mph
and was abile to carry four to where-ever.
Thanks for the commentary moment ...
