You say it was showing a "good charge". If the battery is in 
good shape & fully charged, the gauge should read just over to the positive 
side of center. If it was way to the charge side, the battery was down at least 
some.

  The reason I don't think the battery needs to be changed is that I took 
  the jumper cables off and was able to start, stop, re-start with no problem 
  and the alternator indicator was showing a good charge.  If I'd blown 
  something, I don't think I could turn the car off and start it back up again 
  with that kind of ease.  All the belts are brand new and function 
  fine. 
    
  This whole thing is kind of a mind-bender on me, but, I know I'll learn 
  something when I get it fixed.
