IML: Green

Ok, this conversation has intersected a couple of my own ideas on the 
subject that I, until now, have yet to find an audience for, so here goes 
y'all.

Frank, I took a liking to that weird brown/green Y9 Tawny Gold Metallic when 
I had my Y8 Gold Leaf Metallic '72 Newport Custom sedan. Thanks for bringing 
it to mind and for those links. It's a really complicated color being 
neither really green nor exactly brown making it akin to earth colors in 
nature and thus it goes with the organic 70's Mopars really well. However it 
may sound to the contrary, I swear I've never taken an interior decorating 
course in my life, though I did ace all my art closses in school so I'll own 
up to some minor artsy-fartsy credentials.

I like the way the dark green/gold that Y9 goes with that lighter Y5 
metallic gold interior behind the green tinted glass. It's pretty much the 
light and dark versions of the same green/gold hue, which I'm sure was the 
idea when they were thunking it out. Not so sure how it would go with 
Kenyon's green interior but I don't have to look at it so....

...So, Kenyon, I think your green interior is probably the most rare of the 
6 color choices for the leather bucket option coupes. Yes, this is probably 
for good reason, but more rare than the blue and white leather -I'm sure, 
and probably more rare than the black and tan colors -I have an idea. If you 
need just one more reason to appreciate it, it's a rare one..

Infact, I've always liked the F3 Amber Sherwood Metallic on your coupe with 
the white top. The 19 feet of light green goes ok on the sportiness of 19 
feet of coupe. Also, I kind of like the green interior. I think it is pretty 
nifty with the brown wood decals and black trim items. Maybe you should just 
sell me your coupe and be done with it!   ;-)

I realize you were a bit tongue in cheek when you asked what goes with your 
green interior, but I'll take it as a serious topic. You could go with the 
dark green of F7 Sherwood Green Metallic and put on a dark green vinyl top 
so that the green leather has something to match up with. Being all dark 
green would give you that heaviness of contrasting light reflections that 
the much airbrushed brochure pictures allude to.

Or, you could go with the maligned non-metallic Forest Service Green of the 
'73 model year, and strap a tree trunk down as your console with some Power 
Wagon badges carved into it. Ok, maybe that's not the ambience you're going 
for but you see how much worse it could be. If you want stately, dark, 
conservativeness, I'd go with black on your 4dr Marge car and put a black 
top on it and darkly tint the glass..

I say, "Embrace the green. Love the green. Be the green", but advice is 
worth every penny paid.

Now, I understand about dark colors and stateliness and all that falderal 
but you tell me that this isn't a beautiful Imperial in B5 True Blue

What about tawny gold metallic, GY9? I think that's one of the coolest
colors offered in '72 because of that weird brown/green mix. Yet it's very
classy and sooo 70's. And it would go quite well with the green seats.
