1973 Drivers Power window making Popping Noise

To all,
I recently pulled the window motor out of the drivers
door on my 73 Imp (what a pain).  It had stopped
working and I pulled the door panel off to see what
had happened and it was only a bad connection with the
switch.  I fixed that and figured I would take the
motor out too and lube the internals.  I got it out
and lubed the gears and put it back on.  It worked
great for about 3-4 days and yesterday when I rolled
the window back up in the fully closed position it
acts like there is not a stop on it and tries to keep
going up.  It makes a really loud popping noise.  Does
anyone know what might be causing this?
