Hey, hey, woo, woo, just gotta brag.
Thanks to Greg McDonnell of this list, I was able to participate in a
fairly big Mopar show that was held in Pensacola yesterday.
It was a beautiful setting under the trees in a park near the
waterfront. As Greg and I expected, it was mainly muscle cars (but I
don't mind Chrysler muscle cars), and there were a few interesting and
unexpected cars, like a '76 Cordoba in good condition and an amazingly
clean 1964 4 door Dodge Polara. I believe there was one later New
Yorker as well (1990?), along with a '66 300, a '68 Newport, and some
50's Plymouths.
Anyway, I really haven't spent much time on my '71 LeBaron coupe, but
since it has the best paint of any of my cars I decided to enter it in
the show. Well, to my surprise I took 2nd Place in my class! I was
expecting 3rd at best in a group like this.
The car that won was a 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst, which was a limited
edition with fancy paint, a spoiler on the rear deck, and a TNT engine
(there may be some other differences). Anyway, my point is, I think
it's encouraging that an Imperial could place so high in a group of
muscle cars. There is hope!
I think if I had had time to detail my engine compartment I might have
won first. (Next year!)
