Re: IML: foreigners and our cars

Yes, prices are out of reach for many of us. The hobby used to be just that, it has become a haven for investors looking to make a quick buck. I was staggered upon seeing an air cleaner for a mid-fifties Imp selling for $250.at a flea market.  I have several of these kicking around my garage, they should sell for $25. No, I won't sell mine. I recently GAVE a 55 shop manual to a guy because he was seriously trying to restore his 55 Imp. I had two of them. Was called foolish by another car collector.

I can see the handwriting on the wall. My best friend recently sold his 58 Caddy-he could no longer afford the "hobby."I will probably do likewise in the future, as I can't afford it either. Worst of all, it is hard to keep these cars roadworthy-and that takes away most of the fun of ownership.
