American auto makers didn't switch to radials until the 1970s (Lincoln was
first on the Continental Mark III in 1971, possibly mid-1970, and they
exclusively used Michelins as I do not believe there were any domestic tire
makers ready to supply them yet).

Imperials did not come with radials until the 1974 model year.
