I drove a 1962 the other day that had been rebuilt "firm". Not to my liking. Why not have overboosted, pinkie finger steering? It's great! If it's leaking at the top, there are two o-rings that are a no-brainer that you can do yourself if you start taking things apart from the top/dome/adjuster bolt. If leaking from the input or output shaft, things get dicier. Remember that a total rebuild is in the rebuilder's interests. I don't know how many threads are available before you reach the limit of your box's adjustment, but hear about them being rebuilt for seals, and not for wear. You might want to consider seeing about just getting new seals if you feel comfortable doing it yourself? Getting them out is the hard part that includes pittman arm removal and steering column removal - both steps in a rebuild anyway, Why not try to shade-tree out of it and just do the seals? No idea how much this would save or how to tell how worn out your box is, but if it's tight enough now play-wise it may not be in dire need of anything but seals.
