Here we go again!

This chestnut rises up from the oil slick every two years or so.

Ask yourself this question - if American boycotts Middle East oil - where is
it going to get replacement supplies?  America imports the bulk of the oil
it uses as American reserves are not large enough to cover demand.   Which
is why the Bush administration is pushing for oil exploration in Alaska,
regardless of the environmental effect.

And of those oil companies that do not purchase oil from the Middle East,
how many of them purchase their supplies from those that do?  I think you
might be surprised at that answer.

By boycotting firms that purchase oil from the Middle East you are placing
greater demands on supplies from other nations.  Which may very well drive
up prices due to greater demand on a smaller supply.  And that is how oil
prices are determined - greater demand --> higher prices.

As with all emails, if it says "pass this on to all friends", you can be
sure of one thing.  You are dealing with SPAM!

Gas rationing in the 70's & 80's  worked even though we grumbled about it.
It might even be good for us!

The Middle East countries are boycotting American goods. We should return
the favor.   An interesting thought is to boycott their OIL.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the
coffers of the Middle East.  Just buy from gas companies that don't import
their oil from the The Middle East.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time you fill-up the
tank, you are sending your money to people who are not necessarily your
friends.

It might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to
buy gas  from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil :

Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco............. 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil..................130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway...... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco.............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $53/barrel, these imports amount to over $35 Million a
day!

Here are some large companies that DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:

Citgo......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair..................0 barrels
BP/Phillips.............0 barrels
Hess.......................0 barrels
ARC0......................0 barrels

Of special note here.  Be aware of the brand of gas you do choose to use.
Although some of the above do not import, they DO sell oxygenated gas, or
put ethanol in their gas, which supposedly makes it burn cleaner, but at the
sacrifice of economy!  If you drive an Imperial, it will cost you more, so
please check first by reading the pump info.  BP/Phillips is a GREAT Brand.
Stick with that, and you will be safe.  Otherwise, plan on a 15-20% drop in
MPG, and in an Imperial that is going from 10 mpg down to 8 mpg.  A big
drop, and a steep increase in cost to run.

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each
is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.

If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300
send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time
the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached
over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each,
then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it ..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Which will all be MOOT is nobody actually goes out of their way to buy from
the non importing oil companies!

So, please do go out of your way a few blocks if need be when you pay at the
pump.  Please, and thank you!
