IML: cutting an '81 Imperial

I don't really like the looks of chopped 80's Imperials. The car loses the sweeping "bustle" line and it makes that body line look strange. Most people think it looks strange even when the roof is attached. I've seen one in person years ago and on the net (possibly the same FS ice blue car) and I prefer the coupe. However, it's your car, so to each their own.

I'd second David's request for unused/unwanted parts though.

Not so much "Convertable" as "converted", eh? By the way, if you are going to cut up an '81, I could use the taillights and interior!

Sorry , Neal, but in the car business, we call this type of 'convertible' a chopper, as the top has been cut off. When I get more garage space to store my stash of cars inside, I will chop the top on an 81 Imperial and a 75 to 77 Cordoba, just for the summer. Should be lots of fun. I think you are really looking at a 59, as it has the 413 wedge engine in it. Ron Stephenson, certifiable chrysler nut!!!

It's a start, and very reasonbly priced, considering...

The hood has a '57/'58 hood ornament (+ the 18" long optional one). The crowns are missing from the front fenders. The front fenders have '57/'58 Imperial script. Someone grafted on '60 tail lights and rings. The leopard upholstery is to die for! It looks like it has air conditioning, but the dash vents look a bit funky, so I'm not sure.

And, it IS a convertible...well sort of. It started life as a coupe. Look at it this way: you have an eye-catching drop-top AND the spacious trunk of a regular coupe or sedan without that nasty folded-up top cluttering it up!!
