Yesterday I managed to get a coworker to take me to pick up my 66 Imperial
Convert. Mind you the car hasnt been on the road in 10 yrs though I recently
dropped a fair amount into getting her running. As luck would have it in Nj the
weather has been a horror. Biblical rains and wind. We finally get to the car
(rush hour) and there she sits looking like... Ill try not to use my French.
Anyway after priming the carb, off I went no rear window the back of the top in
sheds, missing the wiper knob(that was formerly there)tires mushy, no hubcaps I
was ready for the Beverly Hillbillies.taking the knob off the top switch and
using it to work wipers, off I drove on major highways. People gawking,
riding past me. Now feeling a bit more confident that Id actually make it back
to NYC in rush hour rain pouring down(interior filled with a tarp) I felt
cold. The heater worked, I was pleased to say , but my happiness was short
lived. Looking out of the corner of my eye I noticed yellow jackets crawling
around dash and passenger seat. Now doing 65 on a highway(couldn't find seat
belt either) the rain and now the Bees...trying to maneuver the road
bumps.. I havent done anything like it since I was in my 20's ..Well I made it
straight home> with only one sting near my eye but an Imperial in my
driveway. I was impressed at her highway ability and glad to have her and myself
home safely.
