IML: "Fixing" old gas tanks, was what type . . . etc

Many radiator companies also work on gas tanks.  A sort of impervious polymer membrane can be installed inside your tank, almost regardless of its condition.  The new lining reduces capacity somewhat, which makes your fuel gauge off which might be a significant draw back.  We had a Model A and the tank was corroded and getting worse.  The metal had become altogether too thin.  The coating had several benefits for this situation.  I'm not sure if an amateur can or should try the procedure.

 

Anyway you look at it, the loss of your original tank is regrettable.  I assume a replacement of similar capacity was installed.

When I was redoing my car the smartie Mechanics decided to throw my original in the woods. So much for caring about Nature. I thought maybe by serial number of something you can tell what you had.  I now think that has something to do with mine acting weird going up hill. It fades out like its out of gas or can surge too..otherwise it runs even now .. Do they still sell that gas tank solution to seal  the inside?
