You should check the sales brochure for 1961 that is available for your viewing at the OIC Website, Imperials By Year. It should describe the roof treatment options that were available that year.

I remember seeing a few '61s with a contrasting color painted into the roof inserts back when the cars were new. Specifically, I remember a dark metallic blue Southampton Four Door car with white roof inserts, and a white Southampton Two Door car with bright metallic green inserts. I believe that both cars were Customs.

There were never very many '61 Imperials on the road, and most of the ones that I remember seeing were either solid colors or had the stainless steel inserts (two separate Black LeBarons). These are the only two tone cars I remember seeing, and I don't know if they were factory, or done aftermarket.
