RE: IML: RE '68 Multiplex

Thanks, and there's your answer, Dave.

It would be nice to see what holes are required in the ribbed metal plates
to pass the wires etc. through.

The blue plastic covers are not a problem - if you go to a hobby place, they
will have satin black paint spray for plastic items. I've used it and it
works fine.

I have a multiplex in my '68 convertible. The door panels have the metal
ribbed surface across the bottom "kick" area. I have speakers mounted
towards the front of this panel. They are surface mounted little black
boxes with a small speaker inside - maybe three or four inch.

That is strange about the door panels not having any sign of the speakers
having been installed - I suspect some previous owner has changed the
panels. My 67 Convertible also had the ribbed panels, but I didn't realize
68's did.

Can someone else with a 68 convertible with stereo please speak up and tell
us how the speakers are mounted (and if the door panels are the metal ribbed
type?)

By kick panels I mean the lowest portion of the doors.
On the convertible and Crown Coupe, this area has a
ribbed metal plate that runs the length of the door. I
suppose this could be called a skuff plate.

For whatever reason, the doors in my convertible have
no speakers nor holes in the skuff plate to accomodate
them. Strange, especially since the build sheet and
wiring show that the car came with an 8-track.
