One of the small annoyances in driving my car at night has been the lack of a functioning day-nite mirror. I have just purchased a functional one from John Rosen which is great except that the silvering is rather poor. I've also realized now that I have the two mirror's side-by-side that my original probably is a day-nite mirror but the toggling mechanism has been damaged by the addition of some silicone sealant.
So, my questions: 1. Is it possible to open these mirrors up so that I can clean out the silicone and repair the mechanism? 2. Can anyone recommend someone who re-silvers mirrors?
I'm not sure whether I'll be better off fixing the original or redoing the replacement.
