The quality of the JC Whitney puller leaves a lot
to be desired. I believe the JC Whitney drum
puller is useless for our Imperials. Our drums are on tight and the
combined forces on the cheap metal cause them to fragment before they do the
slightest good. I personally have had one atomize after a few
hammer strikes. I have the use of a very heavy duty drum puller owned by
the army. On our cars you need the best built drum puller you can
find. When I have taken my car to a brake shop in the past, I always
supplied my own puller. Often the shop did not have one or the one it had
was not up to the task. In one instance, I made the mistake of paying
before I checked to see that the drum puller had been returned to me. The
shop made out like it was theirs. I had to tell them to expect some
disgruntled MPs before I got it back.
