Interesting you note that Lexus bragged about inventing EL when Chrysler had it 40 years earlier. When showing off my 51 Imperial I'm careful to point out the 1951 "Stow-n-Go Seating" in the passenger compartment. Seemingly another item that appears to be new but has been around a while. I'm not saying Chrysler invented it because I'm sure there are numerous examples over time but it's funny how putting a new name on something somehow makes it "new" in the public's eye. ----- Original Message ----- From: "twolaneblacktop" <twolaneblacktop@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 19, 2005 9:24 AM Subject: IML: Fuselage Imperials, Engle's influence upon the Imperial...my $1.02 cents worth (hey, there's been inflation since that phrase was coined!") Of even more interest is in '99 when Lexus introduced their "invention of" Electroluminescent lighting, Chrysler frowned upon this, and in pure marketing stealth like spite, brought EL back to ALL models, down to the low line Neon. Basically said, without actually saying it: "Bull***t, WE invented it in the '50's you little morons." Toyota, err, Scion, err, Lexus, yes, Lexus dropped their touting of EL. ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com ----------------- This message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
