FWIW, The new Chrysler Hemi is not a 4-6-8 variable displacement engine, it is simply 4 or 8. In theory I'd choose the 3.5L over the hemi due to the hemi's substantially greater purchase price and much greater fuel consumption. Not to say it isn't a fine engine...it just doesn't add up in my book. ----- Original Message ----- From: "twolaneblacktop" <twolaneblacktop@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, August 21, 2005 2:13 AM Subject: IML: HEMI & the V-8-6-4 My boss Craig bought a '05 300 sans HEMI, a post purchase regret, but he did get all wheel drive, and GPS, and the V-6 still puts out a good 250 hp. I did not know the new HEMI was using an updated V8-6-4 technology. He had just enough memory of the disastrous '81 Schmadillac V8-6-4 which I believe was all solenoid operated, and in the end, all GM did was unplug the workings of it, or so to speak. No new engines or anything. So he thought best to see how it panned out after a year or two. If he got a "Do over", he would have taken the HEMI in retrospect. Wm. R.
